Nilu Karun is an artist and photographer who lives and works in Cambridge, UK. She has been commissioned projects by different companies and worked together with several institutions on a freelance basis.

She has a special passion for the exploration of the human form and movement, to capture human shapes and reveal the sensual nature of motion. 

Her other work includes portrait, family and architectural photography as well as photojournalism.

 

Nilu is fascinated by 19th century photographic printing methods and currently conducting a research and experiments with these forgotten techniques to produce unusual images with a nostalgic breath to it.

She takes inspiration from vintage photographs, books or magazines. Some of her influences include Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Ruth Bernhard & Bill Brandt.

Her work has been on display by exhibitions in Cambridge. 

Earlier this year she has won first place in the Cambridge Explorer Magazine’s Photography competition.

Nilu is open to invitations to collaborate on artistic or other potentially interesting projects.
